I don't understand, how is that diamond will revolutionize computers, sensors , etc if computers are made from silicon, using EUV lithography process. There is just no place to stick a diamond in that process. Please explain to me , somebody.
Long live the science. I love when realities is confronted with reality. As much as I love Diamonds but also I do prefer science specially when its about Diamonds. Thanks for that great video. Not many like it but also, how many denies vaccine and call it dangerous agains science proof about.
Diamond clones are now a reality, but gold is still one of the most sought after materials for a variety of reasons that can't be duplicated (or at least cost effectively) yet or into the future. I was LMAO at these comments. Great stuff! Made my day. Thanks.
Very informative. Dr Hemley is a top materials scientist. Unfortunately about 80 percent of the comments reveal the banality, bigotry and sheer stupidity of their authors.
Cambridge students in 2002-03 found they could grow 2 microns of perfect diamond across the surface of a superconductor using co2 gas at 10%ap and 1900F. I found exactly how to produce a superconductive field like a flow of water which would allow continuous growth layer after layer. Also by adjusting the charge density of the flow, it is possible to fine tune this process to grow diamonds of color, likely all colors including reds and pinks. These could be grown to spec making it look as if they came from a particular mine, grown rough, uncut, certifiable. The cost of running the machine is zero. Building it, maybe 40k in parts and materials. I wrote the book on superconductivity, literally, I predicted the exact geometry for it not discovered by others until years later using a supercomputer simulation, so I do know my science. Unification , generally, yes, I have it. A mathematical translation was very simple once the basic geometry and process was figured out.
Interesting. And now 7 years later, synthetic diamonds are being produced in larger quantities than mined diamond. However, how do you make a large diamond greater in volume than 1 cubic meter? This will lead to the creation of many new industries and prosperity for humanity. Hmmm…
BUUUUDDY. Make a HUGE diamond with pressurized gas in chambers and tubes inside the structure with small electric in and outflow in the crystal. Any light falling unto your crystal will make massive amounts of electricity! 😀 4 FREE
This man brings some really strong points on why we should adopt lab-grown diamonds. They are even finding a wider use now with the expansion of cremation diamonds. Labs like Everdear & Co are making pendants from ashes using this technology and providing their customers with a unique way to remember their loved ones. At first, it sounded a bit strange to me that people would turn ashes into diamonds but once I got one made for me it was a whole different experience. The process does take a couple of months to be completed but it is worth the wait. If anyone wants to get a deeper explanation on how diamonds are made in a lab, it can be found here – http://everdear.co/cremation-diamonds-from-ashes/technologies/
I think it would be pretty funny if he was wearing gigantic diamond chains, rings, watches, etc. throughout the whole video, talking about how they use diamonds for science.
Very sad to see such a rare beautiful piece of nature being copied, and then it so hard to distinguish it from the real thing. Tens of millions of years of magical and rare geological happenings stolen in a lab.
Behold! Here lies proof for the grand, inevitable, obsolescence, of naturally refined materials. Ye' yet we delve deep into the greed of the rich and mighty. Slaves to their empire of currency. Consuming and consuming and consuming the mass of our precious materials, ones which we have the power to creat. By our own hands shall we stand against the tyranny! Raise up! Throw away the materialism of your hearts and move on! On, into the grandiose future of humanity.
Lonsdaleite & Wurtzite Boron Nitride are both harder and naturally occuring.
Moissanite is a lot more brilliant of a gem and would make more sense as jewelry opposed to diamonds.
We can actually mass produce diamonds growing them in labs (real diamonds, more pure than natural ones), but it's being held back by people intent on keeping diamond prices sky high.
It could bring about quantum supercomputing too, among other things. Stupid diamond inflaters. >_<
Can I buy one. I’m serious.

This guy could have been a teacher very easy to follow him
Gonna run to farm and get me some pigs and cows.
Next Jeff bezoz
Who else is here from breaking bad?
What magnetron do you use for this? What micron is this vacuum at?
What is the machine called
We made us some diamonds, cause we needed them for some science !

It's amazing and exciting that diamonds could be the next technology breakthrough for computers.
I am happy to be able to see the CVD equipment I have assembled. (^^) /
Remember that $10,000 dollar ring you bought your wife? In 10 years it'll be worthless
69th comment,
diamond sword it is
Thanks it helped me a lot

Paul Giamatti, I like your movies sir! I think you should stick to making movies.
He needs to drink some water before interview.
He’s the Heisenberg of diamonds

why does this fucker sound so nervous
How about a small window made of diamond?

very cool, but the swallowing at irregular times was pretty uncomfortable, lol

your work is awesome ,keep it up
I wonder if it is commercially viable to produce diamonds. How much it costs a 1 carat gem to be produced? Anyone?
Yawn
His mouth noises are driving me insane….
His face looks like his voice is putting him to sleep
.. and am still here tryina grow weed
Proof that the diamond industry is bullshit
How many times has he said diamond lol
It would be nice to be able to make large diamonds for infrared fixtures.
methane is created by digestion so you could theoretically make diamond out of your own farts. … i know how im going to propose
Video at 2. 21, last piece/fixture on right, I made it!!!!!!
Isn't science wonderful!
If only I could grow them at home!
Good to see you want to use them for the greater good of science! Just don't let De Bastards… I mean, De Beers stop you.
"Hmm…interesting…"
Looks over to related videos*
"Ooohh! How it's made pringles!"
Good afternoon Tiffany,
Please explain how the production of diamonds is being held back. I'd love to have the knowledge to produce diamonds and compete against DeBeers.
i gonna grow it on a hammer and see how many more things i can break
How can this help me in Minecraft?
