LARCHWOOD—Two South Dakotans were arrested about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, near Larchwood on charges of first-offense possession of a controlled substance — methamphetamine, first-offense possession of a controlled substance — marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrests of 41-year-old Dustin Vincent Fodness of Harrisburg, SD, and Kasandra Jean Rossiter of Sioux Falls, SD, stemmed from the stop of a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier at the intersection of Highway 9 and Grand Falls Boulevard about five miles northwest of Larchwood, according to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
A strong odor of marijuana was detected.
Fodness, the driver, was found to have three containers of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia on him. A container under his seat had a bag of meth and a meth pipe.
Rossiter, the passenger, was found to have two containers of marijuana in her purse.
Also found under her seat was a box with multiple containers of meth, a meth pipe and syringes.
Fodness also was cited for his vehicle having a defective or unauthorized muffler system and failure to provide proof of vehicle liability insurance.
